Well, here’s that proper letter that I promised you. Mom, have you been down to the dress shop & had a look at that pattern yet. I will describe it for you. It has a sweetheart neckline and leg of mutton sleeves (short). The waist is a deep downward pointing V with a very full skirt. The front has a central panel with a big sash coming out of the sides and tying in a bow at the back. There are material roses over the shoulders and tucked into the sleeves. I think it would look gorgeous in a taffeta or something stiff like that. Maybe finished off with ballet shoes? And their hair in French plaits with roses and/or that white wispy stuff (Baby’s breath or Angel’s breath or something like that twisted in) What do you think?Enough about the wedding. I couldn’t make head or tail of all that pottery stuff but it sounds like a lot of fun!
The girls are quite settled at school now. They are doing ballet, but I must still find someone to teach them piano and they want to learn instruments also. Tarryn wants to play the Saxophone (like Bart Simpson’s sister) God forbid! I also think that they must learn a language - they don’t teach them anything a t school yet. I was thinking German would be more like Afrikaans so they would have a head start, but it seems that French is the foreign language of choice round here. Tarryn’s class have been studying the topic of “People at Work”. Its more like an excuse to go on outings. I’ve been asked to come along which has been lots of fun. We’ve been to the library, and to SCATS which is the farmers CO-OP round here. The highlight of that visit was the hot chocolate that they gave us. We’ve also been to the Fire Station and the Police Headquarters. The firemen were just like little boys showing off their toys. They’ve just bought a new ladder truck that can reach up 40 m and they got it out to show us. I don’t know if they or the kids had more fun.Nicky is growing up very fast at the moment. I’m afraid I have a trainee teenager on my hands. She doesn’t take instructions very well and has a very definite opinion about acceptable TV viewing. We were walking around the shops the other day and she just ambles along in a complete dream world of her own. She seems much older than Tarryn at the moment. She keeps making pronouncements about things she doesn’t like. I’m just afraid she gets herself into a position where her pride won’t let her like something because she has been so adamant about not liking it, and she will be left with nothing to like.I haven’t got myself a job yet - a paying job that is. I am a company secretary - if you don’t mind! That means I have the job of sorting out all the bits of paper that get dumped in my in-tray. I suppose at least I have trained him (Richard) to keep the bits of paper long enough for me to do something with them. He’s gone back off to Bristol this morning. Next week is the last week he’ll have to go to Bristol. Thank goodness. I suspect Alan and Rhona will miss him a bit. Or they’ll be pleased to have their house to themselves again. I don’t know which.I must finish off for now and go to school to fetch the kids. I’ll see if I can persuade them to write a couple of sensible letters. All they want to write about is snow.
