Well, our dingy excursion to Truro was abandoned. We left with gay abandon, spare petrol, VHF, camera, sandwedges, and of course the four of us dolled up in crewsaver lifejackets. Truro is about 15 miles away up the Fal river, and across the Falmouth Harbour entrance from where Debanessa is berthed (Pendennis Marina).

We should have guessed the conditions would not be suitable by the fully reefed small boats racing in the harbour mouth and the waves crashing onto the shore. By the time we reached the shore of Trefusis Point, it was no longer much fun - wet, bumpy and not much fun. So we turned left instead of right, into calmer waters instead of the exposed harbour. We followed the course of the Penryn river, and returned to Debanessa after about an hour and a half, wet - very wet. The soggy sandwedges gave way for Cornish Pasties from the Oggy Oggy Pastry Shop, and we all had a kip in the warmth of Debanessa, out of the afternoon rain. That and more shopping.

Tomorrow we are leaving at 06:00 to make best use of the tide, on passage to Torquay. Then Weymouth, Poole and home to Southampton.
