Hi all,

Well, tomorrow it is all back to school/work. The summer holidays are over. Nicky starts college at Peter Symons, Tarryn is in her final year at Kings School (she returned to school last Thursday) and Maggie and I are back at work. The web site now has all our holiday pictures and a few “active” pages from our sailing trip around the UK.

The week after we returned was spent cleaning and repairing Debanessa and feeding the washing machine with clothes. Last week we had a bit more time to get our lives back to normal, and I was able to return to work and get my head around sitting in front of a computer screen all day instead of having the fresh air, wave and rain to keep me occupied. The lure of the sea has enticed me again, and Maggie and the kids have kindly given me an early Birthday/Christmas present – a trip on Challenge #32 from Buenos Aires to Southampton from December 19 this year to January 27, 2002. So Peter, Clive and the rest of the crew – I will see you in BA after your trip around Cape Horn – unless I can get on that bit of it as well of course…

The website (TheChalmers.com in case you hadn’t all heard that a thousand times before) has had a few cosmetic improvements. You can now search our pictures, and the weather satellite picture on the home page now links to an “active” weather page with links to OnlineWeather.com, the MetOffice and Yahoo weather. The Family Tree pages have also had small improvements and now include links to the site search, and picture searches as well as to Google web and picture searches.

The Google image search engine is particularly impressive. Point your browser to http://image.google.com and type in a search string. Try “BT Global Challenge”, “Virago” or “Tarryn Chalmers” as examples. It is not perfect though. Trying “Ricky Chalmers” returns a single picture, that of a large dolphin – a picture that I submitted to a protection site a while back. It doesn’t even look like me !!

That’s about all the news from here. I smell scones ready upstairs – so enough of me on this computer – time to go upstairs and stuff a scone into my face and flop in front of the TV. Tough Life.

Ricky
