This is pretty neat. I am ytyping this news update into TheChalmers.com directly from Challenge 32.

San Francisco is fab. Blue skies, sunshine and a nice 35 knot sea brease in the afternoons from the suck effect off the desert.

We are heading off tomorow into the blue yonder, so this will properbly be a one time news update. Their web access relies on a cell phone connection, so it wont be able to connect from out in the Pacific.

Today we had a great sail in the Bay, mostly round-and-round Alcatraz, and a few times under the Golden Gate bridge. The winds can get up in the afternnons here, and we were clipping along at 9 knots well heeled over with the water rushing over the toe rail on the leward side.

The sunshine is a great benefit, but despite heavy use of Factor 8, I am still a bright pink colour.

Tomorrow we start a watch system, with the 8 crew split into two 4 person watches, 4-4-4-6-6 hours through the 24 hour day. Six days at sea should be a blast, especially with a nice low approaching and the big rollers which we glimpst at this afternoon.
