During my time at Kings’ Secondary School, I have had experiences and met people that have had a big influence on my life. Before attending Kings’ I went to St. Bedes primary school, where I was elected house captain. I joined St. Bedes half way through year five after moving from Cape Town in South Africa. Now, in Kings’ School I have been made a Senior Prefect. From year seven to nine, I studied Maths, English Language, English Literature, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Music, Art, Drama, Religious Studies, Geography, History, Technology, Information Technology, Italian, and from years eight onwards German. I enjoyed these subjects and found them all very useful, and interesting. My favourite subjects were Maths, Italian and Geography, as I found them enjoyable and easier than some of my other subjects. At the end of year nine I chose my GCSE subjects to study during year ten and eleven. I chose to study Geography, Graphic Products, and German as well at the core subjects English Literature, English Language, Maths, CDT, IT, Italian, and Science. At the end of year nine I was offered the chance to study separate sciences, and statistics. I took both of these opportunities and ended up studying thirteen GCSE subjects. I have enjoyed the one and a half years I have been studying GCSE as it has forced me to be more organised, and conscientious. These qualities, I think will stay with me for the rest of my life. In year ten I was taught by a very good German teacher, who inspired me to try harder, not in just German, but in all my subjects, and even when she left at the end of year ten, her influences on me continued and still do. I have kept in contact with her and she continues to give my support and advice. As a result I think my work has improved no end. All the subjects I am doing for GCSE, I think will be very useful, not only as qualifications, but also the skills and techniques I have learned by studying different subjects will be very useful. My favourite subjects at this level are Maths, and Geography. I think this is mostly due the way in which it has been taught to my. This is because the way I was taught influenced my attitude towards the subject, which in turn influenced the quality of my work. At the beginning of my last year, year eleven, I was made a school prefect, and shortly after was promoted to senior prefect status. This was a huge achievement for me as I always admired them in lower school. When I leave Kings’ School, I will take with me the experiences from school. My social and communication skill improved whilst at Kings’ school as well as other vital skills i.e. Application of number and It skills. | My PC My Tall Ships Race My Holiday in Peignton, DevonMy Family Tree My School (Kings) My Uni Website eMail me at Nicky@TheChalmers.com |
