Personal Summary

I am 42 years old with seven years of sailing experience. I am an RNLI Safety Equipment Advisor, a Crew Volunteer for the Global Challenge 2004 race and have my own 38 foot Beneteau Oceanis which I sail and race whenever possible. I completed a month long sailing holiday around the United Kingdom with my family on our yacht Debanessa.

  • Sailing Highlights

    2003 RSYC Channel Triangle

    Royal Southampton Double Channel triangle race from Southamton to Deauville, then to St Peter Port and returning to Southampton. Light winds and foggy conditions.

    2003 RSYC Double Handed Series

    Royal Southampton Double handed race series of eight races. Spring race around the cans in the Solent, Weymouth and return races, Cherbourg, Nab Tower, Round the Island, Brixham and the Autum round the cans race. Best results : first place in the Brixham Double, third place in the Cherbourg Double.

    2000 to Present - Global Challenge

    Global Challenge Training on Challenge 67 and 72 foot yachts. 5000 miles logged on Challenge Yachts, maximum wind speed 54 knots.

    2002 Round The Island Race

    Crewed on Beam On (Beneteau 40.7) as Jib and Spinnaker trimmer. We came 5th in class.

    2002 Summer Season - Hamble Yacht Club racing

    Crewed on The Flying Fish (28 foot Laser) for Kathy and Rupert Smalley in the Hamble Yacht Club series of races.

    August 2001 - Around UK

    Sailed Debanessa (38 foot Beneteau Oceanis) around the UK, Southampton, Cherbourg, Southampton (shakedown sail), Hartlepoole, Inverness, Caledonian Canal, Crinnan Canal, Bangor Northern Ireland, Milford Haven, Falmouth, Brixham, Weymouth, Soutampton. 29 days, 1600 miles - maximum wind strength F7.

    Summer 2000 - Twilight round the cans racing

    Raced Debanessa in the Royal Southampton Yacht Club "Twilight Series" of races.

    Summer 1999 - Cruised Southampton to Plymouth

    Cruised Debanessa down to Plymouth for the Eclipse. Southampton, Poole, Weymouth, Torquay, Plymouth, Salcolme, Weymouth, Southampton. Maximum wind strength F5.


    Career Objectives

    I am passionate about sailing and am entered for the 2004 Global Challenge race. After that I hope to start racing in a professional capacity and also to qualify as a Yachtmaster Instructor and work as a training and racing skipper.

    I am interested in pushing my boundaries and would like to enter a Mini-Transat race and the Around-Alone or Vendee races sometime in the future.
